A unique multidisciplinary cultural event
which unites more than 200 artists and performers with an ID-PDD or not

Montréal, Tuesday February 2nd, 2016. The exhibition D’un œil différent invites you to its 11th edition! This unique event devotes its efforts to the recognition of amateur and professional artists living or not with an Intellectual Disability or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ID-PDD). More than 200 visual and performing artists’ works are in this exhibition as well as in different events. D’un œil different is part of the Quebec Week for people with an Intellectual Disability and most of its events will take place at l’Écomusée du fier monde, from March 2nd to March 17th, 2016.

Visuel D'un oeil différent 2016D’un œil différent, the only event of its kind, is: an exhibition of visual arts that last 15 days and includes performances; human and artistic encounters which go straight to your heart; a privileged get together between the audience and the artists. The exhibition presents sculptures, paintings and photographs. Many participants are also members of adapted creative workshops and adapted visual arts programs in the community.

In addition, there will be multiple free and interactive workshops offered by more than fifteen organizations: Collective works; theater; the art of clowning; a discussion on the rights to have access to cultural activities; creative workshops for seniors and abused woman; embroidery workshops; a presentation of “Veco Velos électriques” (electric bicycles) special edition; guided tours for the public and animation for camps and schools.

In addition to its rich program at l’Écomusée du fier monde, D’un œil différent will also promote events outside of the Écomusée, including a small exhibition, various activities and live performances, in collaboration with Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) as well as a dance show with “Mai(g)wenn et les Orteils” at the Monument National.

D’un œil different invites you to creative and outstanding encounters while building community awareness for the inclusion and potential of unrecognized artists. We hope to see you between March 2nd and 17th, 2016!

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016, 4 p.m.

The opening event will be presided by the actors, Geneviève Morin-Dupont and Jean-Marie Lapointe, followed by the presentation of the ‘Janine Sutto Awards’ presented by the Montreal Association for the Intellectually Handicapped.
